Sleepy Hollow--- Narrative Film (2013) Takes place in Tarry Town New York Directed by Paul A. Edwards
In the show Sleepy Hollow, the main character is a female named Abbie Mills. She is an African American that plays the role of a cop. This show is based on the short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Detective Abbie Mills is a very smart and tough detective. I was reading about her character in further detail and I found out that people do not agree with Abbie Mills's character. They feel that she is too strong and independent. The person that wrote the article says, "how much of these traits could possibly trap her character into the strong black woman stereotype." In this show, so far I am almost done with season one, she is the ultimate cop. At times she needs help, but most of the time she would like to do it on her own. She is not vulnerable enough. It seems that she is too independent at times for a job that would require many people. Ichabod Crane was in the war but suddenly resurrected about 200 years later. He helps Abbie Mills try to destroy the headless horsemen. It just seems that she is too indestructible at times.
Though I do feel that there at certain stereotypes of Detective Abbie Mills's character, I still love her character. She does a great job. I recommend this show highly.
This is the link to the article I read.

Nobody's Business--- Documentary Directed by Alan Berliner, Takes place in his home.
I watched Nobody's Business by Alan Berliner. This was a very unique documentary. Alan's relationship with his grandfather was actually a rough one. That is why Alan decided to interview his grandfather so he can not only make their relationship better, but also learn about his father and his past.
This was a very unusual documentary because most of the time in documentaries, the person being interviewed is very polite. That was not the case in this one. The father was very hard to ask questions because a lot of the time he would answer who cares or who gives a shit. I would say that the grandfather has been the superior person throughout their lives.
The voice was powerful because one can see how into Alan was for this interview and how disinterested. It was almost like the grandfather was acting so distant to be funny. However, he did say something mean but very honest to Alan. He said, to Alan, that you are wasting your life making a documentary of me, no one cares. You have so much talent, use it on something that people will care about.
A film that I think presents a perceived power dynamic in the film is Forest Gump and Titanic. I believe that these films will be extremely strong for hundreds of years, and maybe forever because of the amazing story that they tell..

Response to Truth and Cannonballs
This episode was about them trying to discover the mystery behind this picture. The picture consist of a dirt road with many cannonballs scattered over the road. So they give the picture to an expert in photoshop to try to figure out the secret behind this photograph.
While doing his research he flipped from the original photograph that they were trying to figure out if it was photoshopped or not and the other photograph many times. Finally, after flipping through the pictures many times, he concluded that the picture was indeed photoshopped. The reasoning was that after flipping through pictures you can see that the rocks were in different spots. The photo consists of two photos being taking of the same spot over 150 years ago. This picture of the war is now considered to be the first fake shot.
I personally enjoyed this episode of radio lab. I thought it was interesting to hear their investigation about this photo that they thought had some mystery behind it. I liked hearing the process of them going to someone to help find out the mystery behind the photo later revealing that this photo was photoshopped. I always have been into solving mysteries. Lastly, in todays world there are so many photos that are photoshopped out their so it was interesting to see how this man figured out that the photo was photoshopped.

The Art of Peeping-- The Gaurdian
Even though Svenson won his trial under the first amendment, I do not believe that what he did was right. I believe that everyone has the right to their privacy in their own homes. If someone is walking in the street or anywhere public, that is a different story. Furthermore, Svenson putting these pictures in a gallery and exhibited them without permission, should be illegal.
However, I did like how Yokomizo left a letter for his neighbors in their mailboxes by saying, I am making a gallery of people I don't know, but if you do not want to participate, put your curtains down so I know you do not want to participate. If Svenson did that before submitting his gallery, I feel that the whole trial and the problems would have been avoided since permission was given.

How Laura Poitras Helped Snowden Spill his Secrets
First off, I thought the beginning of the article was a little bit sketchy. If I received a curious email from someone I would not give them any access to communicate with me. Furthermore, if the person tells you about a more secure system, I would seriously consider contacting the police because it sounds like this person is trying to get you to do something illegal.
I do find it kind of strange as to why they were suspecting Poitras, a journalist, to have anything to do with the raid. Even though she was being accused of these actions, and being held out of the country for two hours, I like how she still traveled the world showing her films. It seemed like wherever she went she was being stopped by guards and taken to a room for questioning.
I was a little confused about if the government was trying to catch Poitras or the people she was documenting for her film. She is going to stay out of America and doesn't have set plans on coming back. If they went back, they would be running into a lot of angry people. On top of that, a lot of governments that wanted possession of the thousands of N.S.A documents they still have. In the end, she thinks the days of having her privacy are gone.

The Medium is the Message 1-20
- I sometimes think about how life was before technology was even created. I think about how people got in touch with each other right away if something is wrong. We are very lucky to have the technology we have today. In the first couple of pages, McLuhan talks about how everything is changing, even what we say. Now that everything can be traced through emailing and texting, people have to be careful with what they say. Unlike the times before technology where no one needed to worry about any of this.
- What I did not understand fully was when he said children growing up is absurd because they live in two different worlds. I don't know what he means by two worlds.
- I am interested in point when he said, "the womb-to-tomb surveillance are causing a very serious dilemma between our claim to privacy and the communities need to know." With all this new technology people think they have the right to know other peoples business. He also points out that everyone is so involved with each other that the new environment can't be programmed.
- It is like McLuhan is against technology.
