Sleepy Hollow--- Narrative Film (2013) Takes place in Tarry Town New York Directed by Paul A. Edwards
In the show Sleepy Hollow, the main character is a female named Abbie Mills. She is an African American that plays the role of a cop. This show is based on the short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Detective Abbie Mills is a very smart and tough detective. I was reading about her character in further detail and I found out that people do not agree with Abbie Mills's character. They feel that she is too strong and independent. The person that wrote the article says, "how much of these traits could possibly trap her character into the strong black woman stereotype." In this show, so far I am almost done with season one, she is the ultimate cop. At times she needs help, but most of the time she would like to do it on her own. She is not vulnerable enough. It seems that she is too independent at times for a job that would require many people. Ichabod Crane was in the war but suddenly resurrected about 200 years later. He helps Abbie Mills try to destroy the headless horsemen. It just seems that she is too indestructible at times.
Though I do feel that there at certain stereotypes of Detective Abbie Mills's character, I still love her character. She does a great job. I recommend this show highly.
